Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms Review

Hi Guys!

It's no secret that i am a HUGE fan of drugstore lip products and this product is one of those that i am eyeing since i saw it at my local drugstore. Yeah, i know this product has been out in like forever but its not long till i finally have the guts to try it out. The product i am talking about is the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms. Revlon is one of my favorite drugstore brands so i had a high expectation for these babies.

I bought two gorgeous colors that i thought would complement my warm skin tone.

swatches: Audacious and Standout

Audacious is a bright coral tone that suits any skin color. This color is perfect for summer!
Standout is a deep vampy red.

I love the plastic pencil packaging. It makes the product so catchy and easy to apply. You just have to twist it up and directly apply the product by gently gliding it on your lips. The color pay-off is great and the formula is so creamy. It does settle a little bit at the dry area on my lips but its not really not that noticeable though unless you look closely. I suck at exfoliating my lips so my lips are chapped most of the time.

The shades i bought are very pigmented and it can last for a few hours IF you are not eating or drinking. Its not long wearing so you have to re-apply it every now and then. The matte balms doesn't bleed on me and that's a plus!

Here's how the product looks on me:
(FYI, I didnt put any filter in the photos below so that you can really see how the color looks when applied.)

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms: Audacious

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms: Standout

The Verdict:

Will i purchase this product again? Definitely! I am enjoying these lippies so far and i recommend this product line for those who are looking for a lipstick + lip balm  that will make your lips look pretty without over-drying it. The Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm only retail for 575.00 pesos at my local drugstores.

So what do you think? Tell me your thoughts if you happen to try these babies out!

Till my next review! :)))

Acne.org - The Regimen Review

Hi Guys!

As promised I will now update my blog often! I will start my come back with a review on acne.org "The Regimen". I hope you'll find this review helpful in someways. So here goes...

I have been experiencing bad, bad acne since i was like 18 years old and it stayed until today. It's horrible, i know, and you can't do nothing about it! I have tried everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, everything from drugstore acne products to high-end ones. I have gone to the dermatologist to have my skin checked and treated but it ended up disappointing me even more. The procedure was painful and costly. I have been humiliated and mocked with how bad my acne was. Its so painful. VERY PAINFUL.

Last April, i have stumbled upon this website called "acne.org" which featured what they call the "holy grail" of those experiencing severe acne, just like me. I was so intrigued and was so desperate to try it out. And of course, impulsive as i am, i immediately asked my husband and he promptly gave in to my plea(i love you hubby <3). We went directly to their website to order out "The Regimen" not realizing that they only ship within Canada and USA. BOOHOOO!! I am from the Philippines so there's no way i can purchase the product unless i'll ask someone from there to buy it for me. Thank God my Hubby's close friend from Canada helped us! If you're reading this right now, i thank you so much Des! Hehehe

I finally got the product last Monday (May 25, 2015) and immediately tried it out before i went bed as part of my evening routine! I was so excited and anxious but with a little bit of worry that it might not work for me. Before we go to my review and personal experience, here's a picture of what's included in the package:

The whole regimen revolves around using a 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide in large amounts along with the gentle cleanser and a thick moisturizer.

Steps in using the products: (these are included in the package BTW.)

First: Use the Cleanser to clean all the impurities and bacteria acquired throughout the day. Use only two pumps and make a great lather before applying it to your wet face. Make sure you only clean your face for 10 seconds. Rinse and pat dry. Take note that you should be very gentle in drying your face.
Second: Wait until 5 to 15 minutes until face is fully dry then apply 2 pumps of 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide in a gentle manner and wait for it to dry.
Third: Again, wait for 5 to 15 minutes until the BP is fully absorbed. Put 2 pumps of moisturizer to your face and wait for it to dry before putting make-up on.

These steps should be done twice a day atleast 10-12 hours apart.

Here's the overview and my review of the products:

Step 1 - Gentle Cleanser
From Acne.org
"When treating acne, it is important to avoid irritation. This generously sized, ultra-gentle liquid cleanser is designed to be pH balanced so it doesn't over-dry or strip the skin. It also produces a thick lather which cleanses just the right amount and rinses clean."

My Review:
I love the cleanser. It is indeed very gentle to my sensitive skin. It doesn't sting and is not painful when applied. You only have to apply it on your face for 10 seconds though and you also need to be very gentle. Dan (the founder of acne.org) emphasized that everything you do using the regimen should be gentle to steer clear from further irritation, since Benzoyl Peroxide itself can really irritate your skin if you are not used to it.

Step 2 - 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide
From Acne.org
"This 2.5% benzoyl peroxide treatment is gel-based so it goes on clear and spreads easily. It is pharmaceutical grade, pH balanced, fragrance-free, and dye-free. It won't "clump up" with moisturizers, and won't turn white when you perspire. Studies show that 2.5% benzoyl peroxide works as well as 10% solutions, without the excessive dryness and irritation."

My Review:

The treatment is really strong for my face. It does make my skin really red and sensitive. I cannot even go out as much i want to because i am a bit embarrassed showing the world my red grease ball face. LOL! But I noticed that my acne has been behaving now. No noticeable zits peeking through. I have been using this product for 3 days now and I can really see the difference. Dan said the redness and irritation is normal as you go through the clearing up process. He said, the irritation will only last for about 2 to 3 weeks. I just hope it wont take so long to get rid of this redness. :(

Step 3 - Moisturizer
From Acne.org
"Overly dry skin perpetuates the acne cycle. Since benzoyl peroxide is a drying and peeling agent, it is important to properly re-hydrate the skin. This generously sized, intensely hydrating, non-comedogenic lotion eliminates dry skin and flakiness completely, while soothing acne-prone skin. It goes on clear and absorbs quickly, leaving no residue. It has a super-light feel and is fragrance-free and dye-free. Use it liberally without fear."

My Review:
Okay, last but not the least, the moisturizer! This is a very rich moisturizer! I only put 1 pump of moisturizer to my regimen because my face tends to get so oily! I can't emphasize how oily I get when I put two pumps. My face is not drying up but its still oily. Maybe it will take time for my skin to get accustomed to the regimen but so far the moisturizer is good. It doesn't break me out. It is gentle. Not totally odorless but i can bear the smell. I am really half hearted with their moisturizer but its the part of the regimen so why not?

Right now I am still waiting to see big improvements.I have high hopes for these products. I know consistency and patience is the key to achieve clear skin. So far i am liking "The Regimen" and will continue to use these babies up until they go dry. Lol!

I will definitely update you guys after a month! Stay tuned for that and see you in my next review!

Have a great day!
